Unique cooperation gives half a million to Microfinance Institute in Sweden
Plantagon support immigrant women entrepreneurship through microfinance

Mikrofinansinstitutet in Sweden (MFI) has started a collaboration with the innovation company Plantagon where Plantagon initially allocate 500 000 SEK to the MFI's activities. An activity that uses microfinance for social and financial integration of mostly women with an immigrant background.

– We have done a market assessment when we chose to invest in MFIs, in addition their activities in line with our values. We estimate that MFI is working in a serious, long-term basis, with a close and continuous follow-up to its entrepreneurs as the guarantor of both lenders and borrowers. This means a lower risk for us as a company, and ensures that our money really do benefit, says Hans Hassle, CEO of Plantagon International.

Mikrofinansinstitutet is a private alternative, created on the initiative of the ordinary people, who are working to find alternative solutions to social challenges.
– Unlike traditional banks, Microfinance Institute has a view that "Everyone is bankable." To get the loan should not depend on the sex, age or colour. What is important for us is that the business idea is viable, Fatma Mohamud, MFI's vice President.

–We believe in microfinance as a model, and we believe in this type of collaboration between enterprises and sustainable activities, it is what we call the business or Enterprise 4.0, says Hans Hassle, CEO of Plantagon International.

In a first stage, Plantagon invest 500,000 SEK to MFI. In the future, Plantagon wants to expand its investment, but also to share in the capital of Plantagons, non-profit association, thus further supporting the microfinance concept in Sweden.

Plantagon
Plantagon International is active in the sector urban agriculture and is a global market leader in vertical farming. Plantagon's vertical greenhouse minimizes the need for energy, water and pesticides. The negative environmental impact of the greenhouses is very low, and since the products are delivered directly to consumers in the city, the transportation costs are also minimized. The concept is simple and appealing: daily fresh organic vegetables delivered daily directly to consumers. No middle hands, no yesterday's food. www.plantagon.com

Microfinance Institute in Sweden
Microfinance Institutes borrowers belong to the group with strong business ideas that have difficulty getting access to capital in the credit markets. To support the individual's path to self-sufficiency microfinance is used as a method, where microcredit is part of that process. This is a relatively new business model and an innovative approach that stimulates and increases the creativity to find alternative solutions to social challenges. Interest has in recent years increased sharply for this tool when it comes to social and financial integration of people in social exclusion.www.mikrofinansiering.se
